TRANSITIONS
I believe life is truly one series of transitions. We see the most obvious example in watching our children grow and mature, and in some cases, if we are really lucky, we see transitions with our own parents as well. Recently, my parents decided to move out of their home and into a condominium while still staying in Pittsburgh. As you might imagine, the process of going through nearly 45 years’ worth of accumulated items provided a flood of memories and at times difficult choices regarding what to keep and what to, dare I say it, toss!
Transitions occur in leadership too at Tree of Life Congregation, and so it is that our President, Howard Elson, has appointed our Immediate Past President, Robbie Markovitz, to serve as Chairperson of the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee will be meeting to recommend new Trustees for our Board.
We anticipate a number of opportunities to add new Trustees and are looking for Tree members of all ages, married and single, young and not-so-young, who are interested in participating in the leadership of our synagogue. Are you willing to lend your time and talents, take more of an ownership role, and also provide financial support to our many good causes and funds? I hope so, and would like to hear from you.
So you see, the Tree is also in transition, and I would welcome the opportunity to sit down and discuss with you the many portals of entry into a meaningful, engaged life at Tree.
Keep warm!
Shalom,
Joel Don Goldstein FSA
Executive Director
