From the Religious School
Feeding the Hungry – “Ma’Akhil R’evim” --is so important in our community, perhaps especially so in these winter months. On Sunday, November 18, religious school children and congregants came together to prepare approximately 50 quarts of chicken soup and vegetable soup for recipients of the East End Cooperative Ministry. Special thanks to Barb Kalla, who donated the chicken for the soup, and to the children who brought in a variety of vegetables, from beans to zucchini, to add to the soup. If you happened to be in the synagogue that morning, the smell of the soup was mouth-watering!
If you were unable to join us on November 18, please watch the mail for the date of our next “soup a thon.” The soup was distributed to daily clients of the East End Cooperative Ministry’s Soup Kitchen as well as to senior citizens through Meals on Wheels. As more and more people depend on food banks and soup kitchens the need for our generosity is greatly appreciated!
