The philosophy of our Religious School is based upon the old proverb that if you give a person a fish you feed them for a day, if you teach a person to fish they will eat every day. To this end, our school strives to teach our children to participate in their Jewish community on any level they choose by providing a solid foundation in Torah, Jewish history, Hebrew reading and language, morals and ethics and modern Israel. When possible, students experience hands on activities to reinforce classroom lessons.

Tree of Life Religious School begins with Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade classes meeting on Sunday mornings from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Hebrew School begins at Second Grade and ends after Seventh Grade. Hebrew School students attend Sunday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM and Tuesdays from 4:00 PM to 6:15 PM. Students attend the School of Advanced Jewish Studies (SAJS) through Tenth Grade for Confirmation and are encouraged to attend through Twelfth Grade for Graduation.

Our staff includes veteran teachers, some teaching second generations of the same families, as well as new, innovative teachers that are truly making an impact on our children’s self identity. Class sizes are small allowing teachers and students the opportunity to get to know each other and interact on a personal level. Hebrew tutoring is available for students having difficulty in reading. The students in Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grade enjoy music, and art is incorporated into classroom activities developed around themes of the Jewish Holidays.

In case of inclement weather, watch or listen to KDKA, WTAE, or WPXI Television or KDKA Radio for cancellations. Additionally, we have instituted a phone tree for use on Sunday mornings.
